On February 9th, 2011, our community adopted a Five Year Regional Economic Roadmap. During that process, we asked more than 400 stakeholders to identify the top two priorities for the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation (WEEDC) for 2011. Almost unanimously, the message was first to enhance regional collaboration; and second to promote Windsor-Essex.


Workforce Strategies

  • Promising Sectors and Occupations Windsor-Essex 2012-2015
    What are the jobs of tomorrow in Windsor-Essex? This question is of great importance to the stakeholders, educational and training institutions, regional leaders and the citizens of this community. Windsor-Essex is experiencing a fundamental economic change that is emphasizing innovation and progress within the sectors in the region. It is crucial to know where growth is likely to be in the next 3 to 5 years in order to develop education and training plans for the workforce of Windsor-Essex.
     
  • Local Labour Market Plan Report & Action Plan 2012-2013
    This update looks at statistical data, newspaper articles, local reports, surveys and key informant interviews to highlight the challenges and opportunities presented to both those in the workforce and those looking ahead to their future.

A regional report developed by the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation (WEEDC), provides recommendations for building and supporting the wine industry. The report was developed over the last year and includes input from a variety of regional partners including Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island, St. Clair College, and the University of Windsor. The report also includes provincial associations such as the Winery & Grower Alliance of Ontario and the Wine Council of Ontario who reviewed and provided input into the data provided.
