Windsor-Essex County, Ontario - Thursday, October 2, 2014 – Today, over 150 people from the agri-business and food related sectors attended the Agri-Business & Food Showcase hosted by WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation and held at Caesars Windsor. The morning began with a breakfast and remarks by Douglas George, Consul General of Canada, Doug Peters, Executive Director, Food and Beverage Ontario and Sandra Pupatello, CEO, WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation.

The Agri-Business & Food Showcase provided networking opportunities and planned tours bringing  together growers and processors from Essex County with buyers from major retailers, distributors and manufacturers from Canada and the US, including large US food processing companies looking for potential expansion into the Canadian market.

“It’s great to see so many businesses participating and see the value of meeting and networking with potential customers, suppliers and investment partners. Their keen interest tells us we need to create a business to business environment like this again - and soon.”  said Sandra Pupatello, CEO, WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation.

In addition to the networking opportunity the guests also had the opportunity to take the bus tours that were organized for the buyers to showcase Essex County businesses such as :  Thomas Canning, Highline Mushrooms, Red Sun Farms, Dainty Rice and One Floral Greenhouses. The Agri-Business & Food Showcase concluded with a visit to Viewpointe Estate Winery.
