The Windsor Essex Economic Development Corporation is set to provide Leamington with an update on the work it’s been doing surrounding the impending Heinz plant closure.
Mayor John Paterson says he’s in contact with the WEEDC team on a daily basis.
“What we’re trying to do is research all of the suppliers to the Heinz company, and how this (the Leamington plant) closure may affect them in regard to incomes, wages and employment,” explains Paterson.
At tonight’s Leamington Council meeting, WEEDC CEO Sandra Pupatello is also expected to outline how the corporation’s been spending, or intends to spend, the $200,000 grant given to them by the Ontario government.
