Windsor-Essex County, Ontario, - Friday, December 6, 2013 – Today, Sandra Pupatello, CEO of the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation announced that Marion Fantetti will head up the new Business Ombudsman role with support from the City and County CAO’s.

Sandra Pupatello, CEO of the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation said, “Marion’s 20 years of experience working with various levels of government will be a great asset in her new role. We are delighted to announce this outreach initiative – the first of its kind in Canada – to assist our businesses navigate public policy at multiple levels of government, helping them to grow and prosper. This initiative is part of a differentiator for us, in being able to promote our region as the most business-friendly environment to local businesses and to investors, will set us apart from other communities.”

Helga Reidel, CAO, Corporation of the City of Windsor added, “It’s obvious that often businesses have to deal with multiple departments and sometimes that can be a lot of work for them. At times we’re not always aware of what the panic situation may be so we are delighted to have more resources linking us directly with our businesses, because we want our businesses to grow and prosper. It will be a pleasure to work with Marion as a member of the Business Ombudsman team.”

  • The Business Ombudsman role and outreach initiative is - the first of its kind in Canada
  • Marion Fantetti, has over 20 yrs experience working with various levels of Government -Federal, Provincial, and community liaison positions
  • The purpose of this role is to allow businesses with a key economic development opportunity the chance to break through hurdles, if possible
  • Given Marion’s experience in Issues Management, issues related to businesses would likely vary from: zoning, regulations, public policy, environmental, cross border, trade, licensing, etc. Essentially, it is a position that helps our business navigate public policy as it impacts their operations
  • The Business Ombudsman position liaises directly with the CAO from each community and a directly assigned staff person from the MPP and MP offices in the region
