Attn: Key Suppliers to Heinz Canada for Non-Farm Products

Tuesday, November 19, 2013

In light of the recent closure announcement by Heinz regarding their facility in Leamington, the Economic Development offices of Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent are taking a pro-active approach for the benefit of our shared local economy.

We know there are a significant number of companies who have been key suppliers to Heinz for non-farm related products such as equipment, materials, logistics, packaging, warehousing, greenhouses, research and 3rd party processing. Companies may be supplying directly to Heinz, or know that their end product is used by Heinz (i.e. 1st tier suppliers, 2nd tier suppliers, etc.).

We are asking all companies located in Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent to contact us so that we can assist in finding alternate opportunities, potential government supports, and strategies to mitigate the risk caused by the closure announcement.

We will develop a complete list of suppliers, and each company will be contacted for additional information by the response team made up of key members in each of the two regions. Please note that all information will be kept strictly CONFIDENTIAL, and information collected will only be shared in an amalgamated format.
