Ontario remains committed to creating opportunities for our business community to help them remain strong and get back up and running during these unprecedented times. As a part of this commitment, the Government of Ontario is organizing a virtual trade mission focused on India’s fintech sector to help reboot your export business.
The move toward digital payments is quickly growing in India, fueled by customer demand, online sales, non-banking payment institutions, government initiatives like Digital India, and the country’s status as one of the largest mobile phone markets in the world. The fintech software market is forecast to double from the current $1.6 billion to $3.2 billion this year. India’s transition to a cashless economy and the digitization of financial systems may see a further catalyst – the impact of COVID-19, including the public's fear of potentially contaminated currency.
The virtual trade mission will match Indian companies interested in securing partners and sourcing technologies with Ontario exporters and will cover:
- The latest trends in India’s fintech strategy and insights on the country’s appetite for financial technologies;
- Advice on how Ontario fintech companies may gain access to the Indian market; and
- The impact of COVID-19 on the shift to digital payments, including guidance to navigating the challenges and uncover opportunities in this evolving environment.
The event will also feature a pitch session in which Ontario and Indian companies will have the opportunity to showcase their technologies.
*Note: Ontario companies must apply for a spot and spaces are limited!
Ontario continues to support our companies by delivering revamped export programs that will help connect suppliers, educate our partners, and build our economy.
