The Municipality of Lakeshore is doing its part to help its residents and small businesses during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Mayor Tom Bain says the town is waiving its penalties and interest on taxes, water and wastewater payments.

Bain says the fees will be waived from March 31 to April 30.

He says there is a chance for the timeline to be extended as well as waiving other fees.

"We'll be having a further meeting today to look at that and some of our other areas such docking fees and other fees that are coming due," says Bain.

He says if residents and businesses do pre authorized payments, they can be stopped.

"They'll be able to call in and we'll be able to stop those pre-arranged payments for now," says Bain.

Kingsville waived its interest and penalties on tax and water accounts on Monday.

The fees in Kingsville will be waived until April 30.
