Media Release

Windsor -Essex, Ontario Canada – Monday, June 10, 2019 - In 2018-19 WE EDC in partnership with CAMM travelled to the State of Chhattisgarh, India to explore the opportunities for local companies to procure best cost items from India and to sell high-value technology solutions to India. During this trade mission two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed with EEPC India, the premier trade and investment promotion organization in India, and with the Tools and Gauge Manufacturers Association of India (TAGMA). The MoU’s signed were the first of their kind between Canada and India.

As a result, a delegation from India will be visiting the Windsor-Essex region to attend the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association (APMA) 2019 conference.  A major highlight of the Indian delegation’s visit to Windsor-Essex will be the signing of a MoU by Hon’ble Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel (CIDC) representing the State of Chhattisgarh, India, with Stephen MacKenzie, President and CEO WE EDC and Jonathon Azzopardi, Chairman CAMM.  In addition to the MoU signing a panel discussion will also take place at the St. Clair Centre for the Arts.

“We are pleased to help facilitate the continuation of business development with India and create the environment for our companies to make connections with potential customers and vendors. The signing of this MoU serves to strengthen this relationship, and as a catalyst for future collaboration between the Windsor-Essex region and the State of Chhattisgarh, India. India continues to be a rapidly growing market that will provide numerous opportunities for our advanced manufacturing sector.  We also look forward to engaging and promoting the Windsor-Essex region to Indian companies that are considering expansion to North America.”
Stephen MacKenzie, President and CEO WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation

“In 2018 CAMM and WE EDC signed two memorandums of understanding in India with the Tools and Gauge Manufacturers Association of India (TAGMA) and Engineering Export Promotion Council of India (EEPC India) to collaborate on opportunities in the burgeoning Indian market and globally.  These MoUs were the first step toward bringing two already successful industrial economies together to build partnerships focused on harnessing the strengths of our two Industries to create a mold-making superpower on a global scale. India is poised for great growth, but they don’t know how to get there. We’d be a great partner for India.”
Jonathon Azzopardi, Chairman CAMM
