Donations mean jobs: Goodwill Industries opening third Windsor store, adding 50-60 jobs

Thanks to Windsor’s well-known generosity, Goodwill Industries is adding a third Windsor store and 50 to 60 jobs in the spring.

Construction has started on the 11145 Tecumseh Road East store near Banwell Road.  Like the Goodwill store on Dougall Street, the new building will be about 35,000 square feet with room for sorting items and an 18,000-square-foot store. It will cost more than $5 million and is expected to open May 31.

“That’s thanks to the Windsor community: 109,000 donors have donated every year for the last three years to that Windsor store. As a result of that we can grow and open up another store,” Goodwill Industries – Essex Kent Lambton CEO Kevin Smith said Monday.

Smith said it is beyond the charity’s wildest dreams to be opening a third store in Windsor. Goodwill has the McDougall Street site and a small bookstore attached to its Lauzon Road drop-off site. The new store is near Tecumseh to be closer to donors, he said. [Read More]
