Friday, September 29, 2017

On July 31, 2017, the Windsor-Essex region was designated as a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ Point) by the federal government. Read the media release.
What is a FTZ Point?
A FTZ Point is a strategic location for international trade, where an organization with a mandate to promote local trade and foreign direct investment is uniquely supported by a single-point of access to information on relevant government policies and programs. This information is provided through a designated FTZ Task Force coordinated by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario and comprised of representatives from the following federal departments/agencies:
  • Canada Border Services Agency
  • Canada Revenue Agency
  • Transport Canada
  • Innovation, Science and Economic Development
  • Global Affairs Canada
  • Export Canada
How will it impact your business?
The FTZ Point will serve as an additional tool for the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation to assist our local companies, especially small- and medium-sized enterprises, to:
  • import/export
  • enter new foreign markets & global value chains
  • attract new companies to invest in the region.
How you can learn more?
