Windsor Port Authority 2017 Statistics

With the Great Lakes / St. Lawrence Seaway opening on March 20, the Port of Windsor is off to a very strong start in 2017.
Total cargo handled as of the end of April is up over 11%, reaching 867,078 tonnes. Significant gains were realized in many of the Port’s main cargoes. Salt, which is traditionally one of the two largest cargoes handled within the port was up 28%; Grain, which is handled at the ADM Windsor Grain Terminal was up 57%; Petroleum Products, which move via the Sterling Fuels Terminal were up 75%; and General Cargo, which consists primarily of imported and domestic steel and is handled at Morterm Ltd, was up over 16%.
David Cree, President of the Windsor Port Authority stated “We are very pleased to see the very strong start to the 2017 shipping season. We do expect this trend to continue and are projecting similar results for the balance of the year”.
