Media Release: Local Manufacturers Open their Doors to over 600 Students in Recognition of Manufacturing Day in Windsor-Essex

Windsor-Essex County, Ontario – Friday, October 7, 2016 – In an effort to recognize Manufacturing Day, WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation is pleased to partner with Workforce WindsorEssex, the Municipality of Leamington, Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board, Greater Essex County District School Board, Conseil Scolaire Catholique Providence and regional employers to coordinate activities on Friday, October 7, 2016. Over 600 students from local schools will tour manufacturing facilities in Windsor-Essex.

Local manufacturing employers have been very responsive to this project and are pleased to open their doors to students and educators. It’s an opportunity for the companies to bring awareness to the great careers and opportunities that exist in manufacturing in Windsor and Essex County. The companies participating are: Anchor Danly; Active Industrial Solutions; Cavalier Tool; ClassicTool and Die Inc; Caxton Mark; Essex Weld Solutions; Kingsville Stamping; Laval International; Leggett & Platt Automotive Group (Schukra); MC3 Manufacturing Inc; Radix; Reko International Group Inc; Spirol Industries; SPM Automation; UE Enclosures; UniFab Leamington; Valiant Training Centre; Windsor Mold Group.

Steven MacKenzie, CEO of the WindsorEssex Economic Development said, “Manufacturing Day is an outstanding initiative and an opportunity for our Region’s manufacturers to demonstrate directly with the students that manufacturing is a career full of innovative and technological opportunities. The event re-enforces the message about the importance of this sector to our local economy and helps to change the perception of students, their parents or guardians about having a career in manufacturing.”
