CME SMART program applications now open to southern Ontario manufacturers

Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters has opened applications for its SMART Advanced Technologies for Global Growth program.

The program, funded by a $20 million investment from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) will assist manufacturers who seek to improve their operations through investment in technologies for advanced industrial processes.

Eligible small- and medium-sized manufacturers (15 - 1000 employees) can receive up to $100,000 in non-repayable contribution to cover a maximum 35 per cent of approved projects that focus on improving productivity through the adaptation or adoption of new or upgraded advanced technologies, materials or processes.

Companies can also apply to have qualified professionals examine their manufacturing performance and recommend advanced technology implementation to improve productivity and capabilities. Assessments will be eligible for funding of up to 50 per cent of approved costs to a maximum non-repayable contribution of $15,000.

In addition, CME is seeking professionals to apply to become qualified as assessors under the terms of program.
