Traffic Camera Installation Coming

The installation of traffic cameras along busy corridors will begin this fall improving the flow of traffic through Windsor.
City council committed $2-million in the 2013 budget to install the cameras and the RFP was awarded to Econlite Canada Inc. for $1.6-million in May.
Manager Mark Winterton says there are already several intersections that have the video detection but the increased number will improve the system. “We have a contractor on board, and we’re now ordering the equipment and starting to install the equipment. So it is a process but we are at that point where we are starting to install that.”
Winterton expects it could take up to a year for the whole system to be in place.
