All Eyes on Windsor Assembly Plant

Unifor Local 444 president Dino Chiodo said he doesn’t know how much Chrysler Group plans to invest in the Windsor Assembly Plant but there’s talk of “about a two to three-month shutdown to retool the facility,” for the next generation minivan.
Chiodo said the information is fuzzy and isn’t sure how long the down time could be or when it could happen.
“If there is a full investment there could be a downtime associated to it,” he told the Star’s Sharon Hill. “We don’t know whether it will be two weeks, four weeks, two months potentially. That’s what could be happening if there is a full refresh of the current vehicle and a full rebuild of the new vehicle that’s projected for 2016.”
Chiodo said if the assembly plant gets a new vehicle one could assume that there would be some time needed for changes at the plant. [Read More]
