Windsor-Essex Wineries Bring Home 29 Medals from International Competition

Essex Pelee Island Coast wineries are bringing home their largest ever haul of medals from the 2014 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition in Finger Lakes, New York.

Six Windsor-Essex wineries won an impressive 29 total medals with many WindsorEats members leading the way:

Colchester Ridge Estate Winery

  • Silver: CREW Meritage in the Meritage category

North 42 Degrees Estate Winery

  • Bronze: 2012 Pinot Noir in the Pinot Noir category
  • Bronze: 2012 Sauvignon Blanc in the Sauvignon Blanc category
  • Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery

Silver: Sprucewood Shores Chardonnay in the Chardonnay category

  • Bronze: Hawk’s Flight Riesling Reserve in the Riesling category
  • Bronze: Late Harvest Riesling Traminer in the Late Harvest White (24 Brix +) category
  • Bronze: Sprucewood Shores Riesling in the Riesling category

Black Bear Farms & Estate Winery

  • Double Gold: 2010 Black Currant in the Other Fruit Varieties category
  • Gold: Raspberry & Blueberry Blend in the Fruit Blend category
  • Bronze: 2008 Strawberry in the Strawberry category
  • Bronze: 2009 Golden Raspberry in the Raspberry category
  • Bronze: Bear’s Special Blend in the Fruit Blend category
  • Bronze: Mama’s Special Delight in the Blueberry category
  • Bronze: Papa’s Special Reserve in the Raspberry category

Cooper’s Hawk Vineyards

  • Silver: Chardonnay/Chardonnay-Musque in the Other White Varietal – Vinifera category
  • Silver: Cooper’s Hawk Cab Merlot Blend in the Red Blend – Vinifera category
  • Silver: Cooper’s Hawk Pinot Grigio in the Pinot Gris/Pinot Grigio category
  • Bronze: CHV Merlot in the Merlot category
  • Bronze: Cooper’s Hawk Cabernet Franc in the Cabernet Franc category
  • Bronze: Cooper’s Hawk Rose in the Semi Dry Rose category
  • Bronze: Talon in the Red Blend – Vinifera + Non-Vinifera category
