Supports Available for Aboriginal Entrepreneurs

Blackburn News

The Windsor-Essex Small Business Centre is spreading the message about services available for Aboriginal entrepreneurs.

Kirt Dedam took advantage of some of those when he started his new business in Tecumseh, Naguset Elder Care. The centre offers activities, care and socialization opportunities for seniors. Dedam says the day service is available for any family who needs assistance in taking care of their parents or grandparents.

“The aboriginal aspect I was trying to bring to this business was just to show that I was raised on a strong belief that your elders they come first, you take care of them, they’re the information keepers, they’re mentors. But I want to make sure people understand that it’s open for everybody.”

The Windsor-Essex Small Business Centre says there are many grants and training opportunities available for aboriginal entrepreneurs in the region.
