CAVALIER TOOL & MANUFACTURING INC. EXPANDS
WITH SUPPORT FROM
CITY OF WINDSOR’S COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT PLAN
Windsor-Essex County, Ontario - Wednesday, March 29, 2017 – At a ribbon cutting ceremony today, Cavalier Tool employees, customers and officials celebrated as the newly expanded and advanced assembly area was officially opened at their facility 3450 Wheelton Dr. in Windsor, Ontario. The opening of the adjacent land by the City of Windsor facilitated the building addition being celebrated today.
Cavalier Tool & Manufacturing is a producer of medium to large plastic injection molds. Since 1975 Cavalier has provided tooling for primarily the non-automotive markets – sports recreation, heavy truck, agricultural and commercial. While maintaining a presence in the automotive arena, its focus is still primarily non-automotive product offerings. With several minor expansions over its history, the newly built addition will result in a considerable improvement to the process. Streamlining the final assembly process will enhance speed-to-market offerings, and allow them to reclaim current assembly areas to provide some much-needed space to house new technologies. In addition to the $6Million invested in the building and infrastructure, Cavalier has also purchased over $3Million in high-end manufacturing equipment.
Brian Bendig, President of Cavalier Tool & Manufacturing stated, “Cavalier is pleased and proud to mark this significant step in the growth and expansion of our company. The grand opening of our new advanced assembly area will catapult Cavalier to the next level of our growth plan, bringing new jobs and investment to the region. This is the culmination of hard work by the Cavalier team and was made possible through the cooperation and guidance of city of Windsor and the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation.”
Windsor Mayor, Drew Dilkens added, “This is a great example of a local business that has taken advantage of Windsor’s Community Improvement Plan grant program. Cavalier’s development will keep 126 jobs at the existing facility and add 20 new jobs over the lifespan of the grant program. For over 40 years Cavalier Tool has operated in Windsor and supporting local businesses like Cavalier to expand and grow is one of our primary objectives.”
Stephen MacKenzie, CEO, WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation (WE EDC) stated, “We congratulate Cavalier Tool on this very exciting announcement today and acknowledge the positive support by the City of Windsor in helping to make this expansion a reality. Incentive programs such as CIP delivers not only a positive impact on businesses in our region but provides another economic development tool to attract investors.”
Cavalier is recognized as one of the leading manufacturers of injection tooling and in 2015 was awarded North American ‘Lead-time Leader’ by Moldmaking Technologies magazine and in 2016 was a finalist in the Ontario Export Awards.
