WEEDC says announcements to be made over the coming months
The Windsor-Essex Economic Development Corporation is working on 58 new business attraction and retention files.
President and CEO Ron Gaudet says there will be five announcements made over the coming months, affecting the life-science, automotive and engineering industries. "The big news is that it helps to further diversify our economic base, which is part of our regional strategy. It's going to add capacity and it's going to add jobs, so we want to get them here and support them while they're here." Gaudet says some of the announcements have to do with brand new businesses, while others are simply additions being made to existing ones.
All together, the CEO believes there will be 150 start-up jobs created, and up to 250 within the first year of operation.
WEEDC held it's annual general meeting this morning at Willistead Manor in Windsor.
