Hamilton, Ontario – The Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC), a national professional association since 1968 representing approximately 1000+ economic development professionals, is pleased to congratulate Wendy Stark, Ec.D., Economic Development Officer & WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation, for having been granted EDAC’s professional designation of Certificated Economic Developer (Ec.D.). In achieving this, Wendy Stark, Ec.D. joins more than 300 of her colleagues who have successfully completed EDAC’s stringent certification program, which is granted to EDAC members once all certification criteria has been met including recognized training, practical experience, and both oral and written examinations.
Our Economic Development Program in conjunction with the University of Waterloo, is based on a description of the professional, identifying competency, both in academic background and practical experience. Professional such as Wendy are granted the professional designation, Certified Economic Developer (Ec.D.) by EDAC that will signify her credentials. This designation along with a requirement of re-certification every three years will establish and maintain a uniform and professional basis for those employed in this field.
The curriculum is founded in economics, statistical and financial analysis, public and government administration, marketing, commerce and retailing. All of these will further enable
Wendy to use her educational qualifications as tools in the analysis of regional problems, provision of advisory or consulting services to the public and private sectors, and in the planning of development strategies. Our curricula also focuses on issues such as planning, financial administration and law as they apply to the municipal, regional, provincial, federal and international scenes and as they are necessary in the development of sound economic development strategies. The theoretical portions of the curriculum are suitably reinforced by
practical exercises in typical settings.
