Do you have a favourite sushi restaurant? Think your bakery makes the best cupcakes? Or simply just want to brag about how great the bartender is at your local hangout?
Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island wants your input.
They have launched a survey in hopes of putting together a list of the “best of” places to see and things to do in Windsor, Essex County and Pelee Island.
Want to nominate your favourite? Simply go online to bestofwindsor.ca from now until Sunday, Dec. 6 to take part in the survey. The “best of” survey has eight different categories with 68 different questions. You can answer one or all the questions.
“We want to find the different attractions and hidden gems in this area,” said Gordon Orr, CEO of Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island. “We are working to identify the best of the best in this area and to do that we want to hear from the people who are living it, working there and those engaged in it.”
The survey include favourites in categories including breakfast joint, chef, farmers’ market, parade, DJ, cycling trail and even favourite sports team. It also has a few fun categories like favourite photo op, people-watching spot, festival and even best restaurant to go to on a budget.
Once the nomination process ends on Dec. 6, the Top Five nominees in every category will then be voted on for the top spot.
The voting runs from Dec. 14 until Jan. 3. Everyone who takes part in the survey will be entered in a draw to win a grand prize worth more than $500 which includes a night out in Windsor-Essex County at some of the top-rated places.
“This really is a great chance for people in the community to have bragging rights,” Orr said. “And it’s a great chance for us to promote the best of the best.”
At the end of January, the winners will be selected and will be given a commemorative plaque. As an added bonus, all the winners will be printed in the Tourism Windsor Essex Visitors Guide which reaches 110,000 people.
