The construction and eventual operation of the Gordie Howe International Bridge will result in new opportunities for regional businesses that supply goods, materials and services for the project.  To help regional businesses prepare themselves, representatives from the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority took part in a supplier information forum hosted by the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation on June 25, 2015.

More than 280 business people from the Windsor-Essex region attended the event.

In her keynote speech to the forum, Transport Minister Lisa Raitt spoke of the importance of the Windsor-Detroit border to the economies of both Canada and the United States and how communities on both sides of the border will benefit from the new crossing.  Minister Raitt stressed that the project will not only create thousands of jobs and opportunities for suppliers of materials and services during the design and construction period but will also result in the creation of many new jobs needed for the operation of the crossing.

The WDBA is committed to working with regional businesses in helping them prepare for opportunities related to the construction and operation of the new bridge and will be holding similar information sessions over the coming months.
